Official transfer of the original steering wheel of the MSC Knokke.

After a good and intense consultation with the mayor and aldermen of the municipality of Antwerp and the employees of the city harbor office in Antwerp, the positive result was that the AMS Bernisse could come to the Kattendijk dock in the port of Antwerp. The MSC "Knokke" is moored there, which had been taken out of service for some time and is on the nomination for demolition.
There are still many parts on board that are desperately needed on the Bernisse to return the ship to its original state. Everything we need could be dismantled and taken to the home port of Hellevoetsluis.
Everything will be placed there again on the Bernisse.
The official part of the transfer took place on board the Bernisse in the presence of employees of the city harbor office who had also provided an excellent lunch.
The handover by the city harbor master, Mr Werner Weijts, of the original steering wheel from AMS minesweepers to the crew of the AMS Bernisse was the highlight of this trip.
The steering wheel is mounted directly on the steering position.
The crew of the Bernisse thanks the municipality of Antwerp and the city harbor office of Antwerp for their efforts and valued cooperation.
